Night flying

There is little doubt that night flying is one of the most challenging environments. Autonomous systems offer a lot of potential for these types of operations. Sonar, LiDAR , AI and object recognition are great tools that enhance craft capability but night operations also highlight the value of a highly experienced pilot in control.

The video above demonstrates the skill of the pilot as the aircraft is flown via Infra-red FPV along an over grown rural driveway, under trees and undergrowth, in the pitch black of a moonless night.

The video below demonstrates the ability to identify the differences between rabbits, birds and other species using infrared thermal signatures during night operations.
